Gerhard Richter was born in 1932 in Dresden. While Richter is an established painter, he is also fascinated by the relationship between painting and photographic sources. Richer enjoys experimenting with abstraction. He paints over photographs of a wide variety of subjects such as self portraits, family, interiors, and landscapes. I like this idea of redefining what a photograph can be, and I think this work can be useful for our class exhibition if we chose the subject of redefining photography.

This is something I would like to do for the Artravaganza show in April! I would like to use an old family photograph to scan and then play with by adding acrylic paint. Thanks for sharing!
