Kelli Connell is a photographer who lives in Chicago. Connell's images are created from scanning and manipulating two or more negatives in Adobe Photoshop. She uses the computer to create "believable" situations and to create stories. Because her images are altered, Connell uses the same model in one setting, therefore the self is "exposed as not a solidified being in reality, but as a representation of social and interior investigations that happen within the mind." Many of Connell's images reconstruct private relationships she has had, witnessed in public, or watched on television. Connell's work also represents a questioning of sexuality and gender roles that shape the identity of the self in intimate relationships. I enjoy how Connell is able to represent interior dilemmas through photography. I also like that Connell creates her work to say something about the viewer's identities based on their reactions to the images.
