Jeff Wall

Jeff Wall born September 29, 1946 in Canada. He is best known for large back-lit cibachrome photographs and art history writing. He play a major role in standing up Vancouver's art school and art community since the early 70's. He has many of different types of work through the different shows.

Andy warhol

Andy Warhol born August 6, 1928 died February 22, 1987. He was a artist who was the one of the first people to start visual art movement known as pop art. His work is a mixture of celebrity culture, artistic expression, and popular advertisements. Andy also has a his own museum in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where he is originally from.

Barbara Kasten

Barbara Kasten is an American artist. Kasten started as a painter and textile artist. She was influenced by the Bauhaus movement and László Moholy-Nagy. After school, she turned to photography to encompass her interdisciplinary work. She often is inspired by the act of recording a three-dimensional space onto a two-dimensional plane. She often uses mirrors, lights, and props for conceptually-based pieces. As she continues her practice, her work has continued to pure abstraction.

One of the series that I really enjoy is "CONSTRUCT."

"The CONSTRUCTS series began as 8×10 Polaroids. The sculptural constructions used to create large scale photograms inspired studio installations. Referencing constructivism, the temporary theatrical tableau are made to be photographed in approximately 4 to 8 feet square spaces. Color, form and space are recorded with an 8×10 or 4×5 view camera." -Barbara Kasten website

Jung Lee (1972 - , South Korea) had studied journalism before she was absorbed in art. She said that coming from this background, she's always learning towards being "objective."

She often combines a landscape and a phrase. This is because she had faced with the limitation of language when she went to London to study art. She found very common words such as "I STILL REMEMBER", "MY HEART IS YOURS." Ironically, these conventional expressions make people more lonely. She brought this idea from Roland Barthes's book A Lover's Discourse.

Jung's most notable work is the fifth album art of Maroon 5. It seems like computer graphic image, but it's real picture. She found an unknown reservoir in South Korea after the period of her effort to find proper place. The image contrasts with vivid V and the barren reservoir.

I like tossing out questions like "Why" into the air and thinking about it. I also like to hypothesize about "If's" as well.

Carlos Horacio Bertoni

Carlos Horacio Bertoni is a photographer who lives in Brazil. His work is aesthetically pleasing and I feel that his portraits are more than interesting narratives, but of people who's voices were never heard, but vocalized through his work. His practices in constructing photographs with high qualities of detail and they can be seen here http://chbertoni.com/. A photographer who can capture great images in one category or genre is great, but a photographer who can exercise their talents in all categories of photography is even greater to view and appreciate.

Lynne Cohen

Lynne Cohen is photographer from Racine, Wisconsin. Her work mainly 
consists of capturing indoor spaces of numerous varieties which can be seen on 
http://www.lynne-cohen.com/. What interested me most about her body of work is that she rarely uses and places the human figure in most of her prints. It gives me insight into her work ethic, how she focuses on photographing solely spaces and it's her discipline not to incorporate human involvement. I suppose the placement of human figures would taint and or take away from the statements she is try to convey. As if she might shoot in a heavily visited area, but her take is to shoot that trafficked space without human interaction. 

Yuri Tuma

Yuri Tuma is a photographer who practices a unique type of image making and the results tend mesmerize it's audience. Born in Brasil, and now based out of Miami, Florida, Tuma takes the most simple or complex objects in select spaces and manipulates them to create optical illusions. What I find most interesting about his final prints are his image selection process, the symmetry and balance he creates in his images and the thoughts an individual creates from his final prints. His work creates an inspiring curiosity to create artwork and images beyond our conventional processes and media. These inspiring thoughts derive from a place that fuels my create practices and my goals to create more artwork everyday. Barbara Kasten

Barbara Kasten is a contemporary photographer who creates abstract interior environments as her subjects. Kasten uses materials such as glass, mirrors, plexiglas, and mesh to form geometric compositions. I enjoy the way Kasten uses the relationship between the light and objects to create her own formations, resulting in some very beautiful and thought provoking images. Kasten was educated in sculpture and painting and her ability to construct objects for her photos that are based on shadow, light, and reflection shows off her past education.

Andreas Gursky (1955 - , Germany) makes really big photographs. His photographs are composed of many elements such as people in the stock market or mass game, I can feel a sense of rhythm. If I look his pictures with the actual size, I might feel vastness like looking astrophotograph.

The perspective in many of Gursky’s photographs is drawn from an elevated vantage point. This position enables the viewer to encounter scenes, encompassing both centre and periphery, which are ordinarily beyond reach.

In order to achieve the desired effect, he employed digital techniques to assemble the two photographs and to alter and add details. For example, he digitally erased buildings on the far side of the river from his picture Rhine II.

Lewis Baltz

Lewis Baltz was a photographer who gained importance in the New Topographics movement of the late 19070s. His work was featured in a New York exhibition in 1975 called "New Topographics: Photographs of a Man-Altered Landscape." The exhibition epitomized a key movement in American landscape photography, and depicted urban or suburban realities. Baltz's images search for "beauty in desolation and destruction." I enjoy the black and white, simplicity, and composition of Baltz's work, and how he is able to capture different feelings with such simple images.

Ken Rockwell READ THIS

Ken Rockwell his family has been in the film and photography dating back into the 1800's. Ken does landscapes that he like to edit interestingly. Noah Kalina

Noah Kalina is a photographer based in Brooklyn and Lumberland, New York. Kalina's work is extremely skillful, his attention to light and detail are always present in his images. He is well known for his portrait photography, he has taken some awesome pictures of comedians and other artistic people. I enjoy his portrait lighting when it comes to artificial lighting but his use of natural light is really wonderful too. I personally like his day to day lifestyle and nature photography. He has an eye for the quiet beautiful moments. I actually found him over the "Vine" app. He captures these beautiful quiet 6 second moments, then I found out he does photo and got excited.
